World Pancreatic Cancer Day
Since 2014, I have helped organized a Purple Pride Day on World Pancreatic Cancer Day to raise money to fund pancreatic cancer research. In two years, Turner Middle School has raised almost $1000!
The culmination of the career unit is career day. In 2015, nearly fifty speakers from around Beloit and beyond came to speak to students about their jobs. We were especially honored to have Teach Like a Pirate author, Dave Burgess, speak to the students via Skype.
We have been very fortunate to have such a successful Career Day every year. 2016 will be the seventh Career Day I've organized, and am excited about all of the great relationships and support I have built through this event. It is great to see so many speakers return every year! Click here to view the 2015 speaker schedule.
I have been fortunate enough to organize two assemblies during my time at Beloit Turner. First, in 2009, I was able to secure a Holocaust Survivor to speak to the seventh grade students about his experience on the SS St. Louis. Then in 2013, Jamie Nabozny spoke to all middle and high school students in two seperate presentations about the effects of bullying. He also met with a small group of students as they enjoyed lunch to gether.
I assisted in the organization of a PBIS Networking event for middle schools in the Rock Valley Conference. We hosted the first event in the spring of 2015. Clinton Middle School hosted in the Fall of 2015 and Parkview will host in the Spring of 2016.
On a personal level, I am very active in my church as the administrative council chair and lay leader since 2010. Prior to that I served on the Pastor Parish Relations Committe for two years including the chair for one and on the vision team.
I also support Agrace Hospice, Pancreatic Cancer Action Network, AIDS Resource Center of Madison, and other local organizations through donations and/or volunteering.
