Administrative Leadership Candidate
Self Confidence
I am keenly aware of my strengths and weaknesses, and am always working on becoming a better person and educator. If I don't know how to accomplish something, I am not afraid to ask for help and/or look for a way to learn.
I am excited to work through the Educator Effectiveness process and to turn to my colleauges who have gone through the process in 2014-15. I expect this process to make me a stronger person and educator as It is allowing me to reflect on my practices.
Stress Management
Being one of the first people at school each morning is an important part of my day. I enjoy the quietness of the school in the morning as it gives me time to prepare for the day. In my spare time, I also enjoy spending time at Miller Park, reading, watching movies, time with my family, and playing with my dog.
Personal Credibility
I never ask a student something I would not be willing to do myself. During the eighth grade learning styles unit, for example, after we discuss an assignment, I ask the students to predict where I would fit. They need to explain and support their beliefs. After several students respond, I reveal what type of learner I am. This gives students the opportunity to get to know me better and allows them to reflect on what they just learned.
Ultimately, I am always timey, honest, and straight forward with parents, students, and colleagues
Organization and Flexibility
I am an extremely organized person. I find this to be an important part of my teaching. There are times, however, when a lesson, for example, may not go as planned. I am able to quickly adjust appropriately to ensure the success and/or improvement of the lesson.
Recently, several students missed the lesson, so another student taught the lesson to the class allowing me to assess her understanding while strengthening the knowledge she learned and teaching the other students.
Tribes Learning Community
I am trained in and utilize many parts of the Tribes Learning Community philosophy to enhance the educational community and process.
